Agriculture is alive and well in Volusia County. There are more than 1,000 local farms in this $1.74 billion industry. More than 40,000 people are employed in agriculture-related jobs here. Volusia County farmers produce industry cattle, citrus, vegetables, hay, sod, fish, cut foliage and artistic cut foliage products, ferns, honeybees, plants and more.  And Volusia County is among Florida’s highest producers of timber.

Supporting agriculture in our community is the Volusia County Farm Bureau, a nonprofit agency that promotes agriculture and the rural lifestyle. The Farm Bureau works in cooperation with the Florida Farm Bureau, which is the statewide voice of Florida agriculture. It also works in harmony with the University of Florida/Volusia County Extension, which partners with communities to provide quality, relevant education and research-based expertise to foster healthy people, environments and economies.
