If you enjoy sports, welcome home.
Of course, there is the World’s Most Famous Beach, miles and miles of smooth, sandy beaches that are 500’ wide in some places at low tide. The deep sea fishing is excellent. The same is true of bass and redfish fishing. This is the home of the Ladies Professional Golf Association, so we take our golf seriously. Golfers enjoy more than a dozen public courses, many or championship caliber and all priced reasonably. Tennis players find excellent facilities at the US Tennis Association complex. Baseball fans love to catch a night game at historic Jackie Robinson Ballpark, home of the Daytona Tortugas, Minor League affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. Football fans can catch Bethune-Cookman University game or a Stetson University Game. Pro teams that draw fans from Volusia County include the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars or Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Basketball fans enjoy seeing the Orlando Magic take on NBA rivals. And of course, NASCAR fans live for the Daytona 500 and the Coke Zero 400 events at the newly re-imagined Daytona International Speedway.
If you are looking for a different form of entertainment, Walt Disney World, EPCOT Center, Universal Studios, Sea World and other attractions are about an hour’s drive away, as is historic St. Augustine to the north and Kennedy Space Center to the south.
