Highlights from Recent Meetings

At TVEDC's April Board of Directors and Investors meeting at the Sanborn Center in DeLand, the board approved the organization's new logo. Tom Ford, of BMC CPAs, advised the board that he was very pleased with his 2016 "clean" audit ndings. John Wanamaker of Coldwell Banker Commercial AI Group and Joe Hearn Catering sponsored refreshments at the networking event following the meeting and the City of DeLand sponsored the venue.

The June Board of Directors and Investors meeting was held at the Riverside Pavilion in Port Orange. The well-attended meeting opened with a warm welcome from Port Orange City Manager Michael "Jake" Johansson. The business meeting included acceptance of two new investors; Daytona Tortugas at Board level and SVN Alliance Commercial Real Estate Advisors at Ambassador level. In addition, Keiser University at Board level, and Palmer College of Chiropractic at Ambassador level were recognized as new investors as previously approved by the Executive Committee. Presentations by Team Volusia staff included a brief overview of plans for the Coke Zero 400 weekend, to which 20 site selectors registered to attend. Progress on the three-year implementation plan of the Strategy for Success was reviewed and an update on marketing materials, media and website development was presented. Keith Norden announced that at the mid-year mark, the Team Volusia staff already exceeded 2017 yearly goals with an impressive pipeline. VIP guests at the meeting included Joe Hice, Senior Vice President of Enterprise Florida, who offered an update on the Team Florida Marketing Partnership's media placements and outreach initiatives.

A special presentation by Paria Ghyabi and Kevin Tilley, graduates of the Daytona Regional Chamber Leadership Class XXXVII, featured a synopsis of the Volusia Proud program developed by the class and promoted throughout the business community. The program was developed in response to the CEO Challenge presented to the class by TVEDC President and CEO Keith Norden and Dr. Kent Sharples, President of CEO Business Alliance. Sponsors of the networking event included Sans Lassiter of Lassiter Transportation Group and Shailesh Patel of Dredging and Marine Consultants and the City of Port Orange provided the venue.
