Excited to participate and represent Team Volusia EDC & the Greater Daytona Region/Volusia County, FL at the Farnborough International Airshow joining leaders from Enterprise Florida, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Space Florida, FP&L among others.
Farnborough International Air Show
Team Volusia EDC was offered a special opportunity to partner with Enterprise Florida (EFI) and Florida Power & Light (FPL) at the 2018 Farnborough International Air Show in the UK this past July. This was the second air show that Florida Power & Light invited select FPL communities to share in the Powering Florida exhibit area adjacent to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s space inside the Florida Pavilion.
FPL’s Powering Florida exhibit featured a large interactive LED screen which allowed us to retrieve Florida site profiles and a variety of other data, which stopped traffic. In addition, the United Launch Alliance provided FPL a model of Boeing’s Commercial Crew Transportation System – the CST-100 Starliner raised a great deal of interest in the Powering Florida exhibit area.
The Farnborough International Air Show attracts more than 1,500 exhibitors from over 50 countries. Eighty percent of the world’s top 100 aerospace companies participated in the show, so it was important that Team Volusia EDC be represented. Team Volusia remains appreciative of the private sector funding which allows the organization to represent Volusia County and its many aviation/aerospace assets.
Team Volusia EDC engaged a consultant to pre-schedule approximately 20 face-to-face meetings with corporate decision makers in the aviation/aerospace sector. The meetings maximize the time spent at the Farnborough International Air Show, constantly leveraging time with pre-targeted businesses in a face-to-face setting.
Team Volusia has been an active participant and exhibitor in both the Farnborough and Paris air shows over the past five years, collaboratively working with key partners from Volusia County and throughout Florida.
